Drill well maintenance and upkeep

We carry out all maintenance related to drilled wells with professionalism and experience.

The maintenance requirements for borewell systems are generally very low. Maintenance of the pressure tank, or venting, is an annual procedure, which extends the life of the pressure switch and thus also prevents breakdown of the pump itself.

We can send you the necessary maintenance instructions for your borewell by email, or you can join a so-called “maintenance circle” where the venting is done once a year when we are nearby in addition to other work, which largely saves on travel costs.

You can register for the maintenance service by calling 0400-237 051. Older wells may need cleaning and disinfection.

Why and when should you perform borewell maintenance?

A borewell is usually a carefree source of water, but it is also good to monitor its condition. Over the years, the water quality may change or the technology may need to be checked. Preventive borewell maintenance is almost always cheaper than fixing problems that could have been avoided.

What is done in practice during maintenance?

When we perform maintenance, we don’t just check the cover, we inspect the system as a whole. The work typically includes:

  • Structural inspection:  We check that the well cover is tight and the structures are in good condition so that surface water cannot contaminate the well.
  • Equipment testing:  We check the operation of the pump, pressure tank, and pressure switch. We make sure that the pressures are correct and the system is working as it should.
  • Visual assessment of water quality:  Often the appearance, smell or taste of the water itself indicates a potential problem. If necessary, a water sample can be taken for official analysis.
  • Washing and disinfecting as needed:  If the well has accumulated sediment or iron, it can be washed and disinfected. In a clean well, the water is fresh and the pump also lasts longer. Regular borewell maintenance is key here.

Signs of need for maintenance

Maintenance is due at the latest if you notice the following:

  • The water is cloudy, discolored, or tastes or smells strange.
  • The water pressure has dropped or is flowing back and forth.
  • The pump runs continuously or intermittently.
  • There is sand or other debris in the water.

If any of these questions concern you, it’s worth calling and asking. Properly performed and timely well maintenance ensures that you can reliably get clean water from your well. Also remember our cost-effective maintenance package, which makes regular maintenance easy.
